DOZENS of Australia's biggest-selling and best-loved magazines look certain to fall into foreign ownership with Nine Entertainment Co selling it's ACP Magazines to German giant Bauer.
In October 2012 Bauer Magazines rebrand ACP as 'Bauer' in a deal was worth about $525 million. Bauer, which is privately owned by the Bauer family and based in Hamburg, Germany, publishes titles including Closer, Grazia, Heat, FHM and Zoo in Britain and First for Women, Soaps in Depth and Woman's World in the US. ACP publishes about 85 audited titles which sell about 90 million copies a year, including biggest-selling monthly The Australian Women's Weekly and biggest-selling weekly Woman's Day.
